This seminar will cover topics directly relevant to California’s marijuana laws and businesses, including federal versus state law conflicts and state versus local law conflicts. It will discuss in detail the recently passed Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act as well as provide insight into California’s potential recreational legalization initiative, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, set to appear on the 2016 ballot. It will also provide practical advice that marijuana businesses and their attorneys need to know in order to ensure compliance with current and pending state and local laws.

Attendees will hear directly from leading practitioners and state officials about the changes and progress along the road to current laws and future legalization measures in California. This seminar will also address marijuana-related contracts and transactions, access to insurance, entity structuring, products liability and quality assurance concerns, marijuana on tribal lands, the future of medical and recreational marijuana in California, and the legal/ethical parameters and tensions arising from practicing in this emerging and developing industry.
